KINOGLAZ FEAT. NATURAL BORN VLOGGER (7', Romania, 2012)

KINOGLAZ FEAT. NATURAL BORN VLOGGER is based on a series of “vlogs” (an invented word, derived from “blog”) - Youtube posts recorded over 4-5 years, in which ALEXANDRU BĂDELIȚĂ is talking about different events from his life. Arrayed in a multi-split-screen, the vlogs are more likely a background for a discourse on the self, on how individual stories define us and on the possibility of a new type of human communication that would take place in the vlogoshpere.

“I like to observe things around me and listen. It all started with a school assignment related to the use of split-screen. From the beginning I thought about 9 main “screens”. Being trained more in video editing and sound, I instantly thought I would need a lot of footage but also a soundtrack that will work as a backbone and will help me link everything, so as to give it a meaning. In September I already had the 9 screens done. Until February I managed to put together an introduction and an ending and in summer I managed to make it more meaningful through a suggestive pre-credit and also through a consolidation of its core, by means of green-screen filming (I used as a green-screen the house where I grew up, with exterior green walls, but that’s another story). I always had in mind the Zone from «Stalker» which I turned inside out and reinterpreted.” (ALEXANDRU BĂDELIȚĂ)
