GLUCOSE (6', France/Romania, 2012)

"Mixing 3D technology and live shooting, GLUCOSE reinvents our domestic environment, modifying forever our perception of it. A full of humour and anxiety interpretation of the cuantum physics idea that we can exist in two places at the same time. The familiar things suffer strange physical distortions and the natural laws are not valid anymore. Thus surprising associations are created between the micro and the macro universe and we watch in awe how every glass of water becomes an ocean full of fish, each yolk of egg disintegrates in what seems to be a solar explosion, the wall surfaces become arctic landscapes, while fishes cross the now permeable glass wall of the aquarium, floating in air as naturally as in water. A deeply sensorial experience, in GLUCOSE, a sequence of moments of perception disorder becomes an intelligent commentary about our universe." (Diana Mereoiu, BIEFF 2012)

MIHAI GRECU and THIBAULT GLEIZE form a multidisciplinary artistic duo, activating in Paris. Their practices articulate themselves around various media such as digital video, installation, graphic design, photography and drawing. Chaotic sensations, alienated cities, polluted beings and noisy atmospheres mark the boundaries of these hallucinatory spaces. From their collaborative filmography we can mention: Freon 2004, Orcaille 2006, Glucose 2012.

"This film is a reflection on our familiar surrounding space. Based on the quantum indeterminacy principle of the quantum mechanics, it depicts a place where physical bugs happen: some surfaces are unexpectedly penetrable, while the scale of beings and objects is inverted or misplaced." (MIHAI GRECU & THIBAULT GLEIZE)

"If you are familiar with MIHAI GRECU’s previous work, such as WE'LL BECOME OIL or CENTIPEDE SUN (BIEFF 2010), you will not fail to find a very strong ecological message that drives through his recent collaboration with Thibault Gleize. GLUCOSE is indeed a visual experiment combining 3D animation and video shooting, but the subjects for this process were not chosen randomly. On one hand we have, as the directors stated, a reshaping of our most intimate space, transformed in an environment of physic abnormalities. On the other hand, each subject on which the camera insists becomes through fine allusions, made with sound as much as with image, a symbol of our Universe. GLUCOSE is a surprisingly addictive journey." (Andrei Dobrescu, BIEFF 2012)
